I've never understood patriotism and am not British anyway but why shouldn't someone sing 'Rule Britannia' and the National Anthem if they wish, even though I hate the Queen. It's called freedom.
'That Government is best which governs least' - Henry David Thoreau. Tomas, ta tú mo ghrá, mo chroí, mo agam agus mo rogha, a chara. Go deo.
The songs 'Rule, Britannia!' and 'Land of Hope and Glory' will now be sung at the Last Night of the Proms at the Royal Albert Hall after a U-turn by the BBC. The change of mind is the first major decision taken by new boss Tim Davie who took over yesterday
What you need to do now Tim Davie is have a clearout, a sort through the overpaid luvvies Gary Lineker (£1m-plus a year) Graham Norton (£2m a year) Chris Evans (£2m a year)

It’s the fact some of these highly paid television luvvies think they have the right to tell the rest of us what to think that gets up people’s noses . Being paid a lot does not make your views any more valid than the people who are paying you. Exactly the same with whinge and ginge - don’t want to hear them bleating on either, stick to acting ( her) and acting the goat (him).
'If you want to be an opinionated columnist or a partisan campaigner on social media then that is a valid choice, but you should not be working at the BBC'
'I want a radical shift in our focus from the internal to the external, to focus on those we serve: the public. From Cornwall to Shetland, from Suffolk to County Fermanagh'
'I want staff to spend much more time outside the BBC listening to those who pay for us'
'We must pick our battles carefully and make sure we get the biggest bang for limited bucks'
'It is so easy to roll your eyes when we hear of bureaucracy and internal politics as if it cannot be changed. But we can and should be better than that'
