In my opinion, none of them are worth that amount of money. It’s almost obscene when you think about how much nurses get paid for doing a much more important job.
Gender pay gap behind this maybe. It seems women have been ... rewarded? Not sure if that's the right word considering that Zoe Ball got a new salary of £1.36m despite losing a million listeners on her BBC Radio 2 Breakfast Show after taking over from Chris Evans.

They get paid on their perceived worth to their employers, like footballers, for instance. They entertain millions, whether we personally like them or not. Very few reach the top of their game and stay there so it can be precarious.
A nurse can stay in employment with a guaranteed income until they retire.
Whether nurses/ teachers etc. are paid enough is open to debate, of course but that is not relevant here.
It's a great pity the right of free speech isn't based on the obligation to say something sensible.
I do realise that their wages are a reflection of their worth, but I still think that they are overpaid and no doubt the licence payers foot the bill.
As I’ve said before, although those who love the game disagree, football players are paid ridiculous wages for kicking a leather ball around. I’d have more respect for the game if some of their wages were creamed off and put towards more important things like the N.H.S. and towards helping the many families who live in poverty in this country.

The difference with footballers is that whereas you have no choice about paying the BBC licence fee in the UK, you can choose whether to spend money on attending football matches or subscribing to Sky Sports. If nobody did so the footballers' ridiculous wages would disappear. Footballers do contribute towards the NHS by paying tax like anyone else.
Where taxes are concerned if there is a legal loophole to be taken advantage of (big or small) most people would use it
I know I would, so if focus was put on these loopholes then they could be closed down by new laws, of course that will never happen as the majority that would make the decision are probably worth a few bob and dont want that particular cash cow being taken away
Fair enough, if they do pay their full taxes and don’t shift their money to an offshore account. 😉
At least I’m not contributing to their wages because I don’t go to matches and avoid the matches on the TV like the plague,
They pay PAYE like anyone else on their earnings. Things like image rights and sponsorship are generally paid into a company for them on which they'll pay corporation tax rather than income tax, but that's about it.

I know they pay PAYE, but some wealthy people are known to put/transfer their fortunes into overseas accounts and so can presumably avoid a massive tax bill. Hopefully that isn’t any of the footballers.
