Note Gary Lineker (hated by many here) has taken a massive pay cut. While he's still coining an obscene amount, it pales in comparison to the rise Zoe Ball has received (leave it!). While I'm all for equal pay, a rise of almost £1m from a comparatively low salary (to most of us) cannot possibly be justified. Can it?
£1 million+ for hosting a football programme and a radio show is obscene to me ... The chosen ones are not particularly gifted in their particular ventures - he has the charisma of a peanut and she would make a particularly loud Town Crier ..
I've no issue with Lineker making a fortune with his crisps advert. Good luck to him if Walkers wants to pay him mega bucks, but I do have an issue with the Beeb paying him a fortune using our licence fee money.

I used to have a clause in my employment contract saying I couldn't work for anyone else without my employer's permission. The very least I'd expect were I paying somebody £1.3 million a year is exclusive use of their services.

I hated Chris Evans, but if I had to listen to either of them, I would reluctantly listen to Chris Evans rather than the awful Zoe Ball. I can't understand why the BBC need to employ her at all, never mind pay her that amount of money...
Because she's female by any chance? Seems that sometimes in these modern times, gender overrules talent. But then I suppose it was ever the case. In the past men were seen to be more competent and anyway, women had babies & took career breaks blah, blah, blah One day, society might get it right.
I wonder if any of the folks that commentate ever listen to themselves? Chalk on blackboard (am I allowed to use terminology such as this) springs to mind.
I only ever listen to radio4 so cannot comment on other radio bods.
Right-leaning folk complain that radio4 is full of lefty luvvies and the lefties complain that it is too Tory centric. To me, this suggests that they have the balance about right...
It's a great pity the right of free speech isn't based on the obligation to say something sensible.

I listened to a fab production of ‘Madam Will You Talk?’ On Radio 4 Extra last week . It was two Episodes. I hope they do some more of Mary Stewart‘s , especially the Greek ones- ‘My Brother Michael’ , ‘This Rough Magic’ and ‘The Moonspinners’.
I used to listen to Radio 4 a lot when I was in my van, but I can't remember when I last listened to it since I retired, so I have no idea which way it leans these days. It used to seem well balanced in the past.
The real problem today is with the BBC TV News, which most certainly does seem to have a very distinct left wing bias, and I don't think I'm a particularly right wing person.
