Culture Secretary Nicky Morgan warns the BBC it needs to change to remain 'relevant' to the Netflix generation - and suggests the licence fee could be SCRAPPED within a decade
Why wait that long?
She also suggests she will unveil plans to decriminalise non-payment of the licence fee. Now that's more like it.

It's actually bloody ridiculous, many people will stop paying, even pro-BBC types, so they'll get little or no revenue. Scrap it now in favour of more up to date methods of funding.
The BBC should pay us to watch their channels. Or, they should consider introducing adverts to keep their channels going. Most of us have some way of recording programmes nowadays and so we could fast forward through them. I do that all the time with the channels that do have advertising. 👍
The fact that they’ve now stopped the free TV licence for the over 75s is a poor move too. I will be able to afford to pay the licence fee, when I reach that age, but some pensioners, who aren’t as fortunate, rely on the tv for company, so technically they are being charged for the company of “friends.” Everything seems to be geared towards making money and fleecing the customers nowadays. (Just my opinion 😉)
I az sined it to quote my American friend Matthew from the I Can Az Cheezburger site.
I have no television but I still think it is wrong.
Decriminalise non payment? It shouldn't even BE a crime in the first place. Especially when you consider that those who have done a lot worse get off with no custodial sentence.

There was uproar when Emily Maitlis tore into Cummings on Newsnight (more than 40,000 complaints in two days) & the BBC released a statement saying her introduction did not meet impartiality standards. It added: "Staff have been reminded of the guidelines." Naga Munchetty has now joined the fray after the Emily Maitlis row. BBC presenters are not 'robots or idiots' and 'we're not there to simply, blankly read the news' www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-8393195/Naga-Munchetty-says-broadcasters-not-robots-idiots.html I remember the days when they just read the news.
Sorry, Pet, but you are there just to read the news, that is your job and the job description emphasises impartiality. Many BBC presenters rather thinly disguise their party affiliation but have to be careful to keep within the guidelines. Why should Ms Maitlis use her very well-paid position, and influence to comment. it doesn't matter whether we agree with her or not, she is there to present the facts and we can then make up our own minds.
Sorry, I didn't notice the date. Any organisation that has its flagship football programme hosted by an ex-Leicester player deserves to have its funding cut off so I've signed.

You hypocritical shyster, you loved it when we won the league and Lineker presented the show in his boxers. 😠
I think the BBC should scrap the licence for people who have no interest in football. 😀 I’ve enjoyed there not being any on TV thus far, but they’ve started showing old matches now. 😳
I know I’m very much in the minority (I’m used to that) but I’ve never understood the attraction of watching overpaid bods chasing a leather sphere. 😉

I didn't realise he was being paid £1.75 million a year at the time.
