I loved the first 3-4 series when it was screened 24/7 and was much more of a social experiment. I made loads of lovely friends following the threads, in particular the WHATM thread (What's happening at the moment) when we would take turns to write it up as it happened. As soon as they started to recruit 'wannabees', it became tedious. Many of us stuck with it only because we enjoyed chatting to each other. Then, they cut right back on the viewing time and it started to sound scripted and I never watched it again.Just like the various offshoots from Shopping Telly, groups splintered, reformed, fell out.I still have half a dozen friends from that time. Would I watch it again? No, I'd rather remember the original episodes fondly.
It's a great pity the right of free speech isn't based on the obligation to say something sensible.
I watched the first 2-3 as well. The days when the contestants were randomly picked from the public were entertaining, but once they started to orchestrate contestants it became silly.
Fair do's, it's not for everyone. Thank for the replies.
I've only watched it on C5 for around the last 5 years it was broadcast. I never saw it on C4. It's only the C4 series they are going to show, as far as I heard. It will be interesting to see what it was like before C5.
