If you are bored and have nothing to do for 30 minutes, watch this. I only discovered the live cam viewing late in the year as they were starting to fledge.
Warning: There are scenes of a sexual nature, bullying and extreme pooping that may upset some viewers.
Not to mention a background shot of an apparent brush with the Russians!
Lovely to see one of the chicks later caught on camera fishing in Somerset, presumably en route to Africa for the first time.
I might not have time to watch just yet, there's football results to deal with and some Cabaret Voltaire to get my head round, but I will watch for the bonking.
Louis's partner from Nest 1 didn't come back last year, he has another mate Dorcha and they are using Nest 2, I think chicks are expected around end of May.
Finally caught a bit of action this evening. Still 1 egg, but 2 "bobs" (short for bobbleheads) have hatched in the last 3 days. Should get more interesting now as they start feeding them regularly, it's just a matter of picking the right time to have a look.
Who knew osprey chicks were called bobs lol! It's generic term used until the sex is known, and they are ready to emigrate in case they don't survive. Their sex is known after ringing take place.
The last egg hatched last week, there are now 3 bobs in the nest, all different sizes. 3bob is the smallest and will have the hardest time, but as long as there is plenty of food he should make it okay. The eggs are laid and hatch like this to give the strongest bobs the best chance in years when food is short. The last bob is usually sacrificed in these circumstances. Mother Nature eh!
