3 is only a week old, with the other two being a lot bigger, it's going to be a struggle for him. It is possible the other 2 will bully him as time goes on.
Until late this afternoon our third chick was having the tough life that comes with being last to hatch, but getting fed and continuing to grow nevertheless.
Unfortunately it moved to the edge of the cup at 15:52:40 remaining outside of Dorcha's protection for the rest of the afternoon. Had it been a sunny day this would not have been a problem but as it is a wet windy day it led to chilling of the chick from which it did not recover.
Just a warning to those of you who find this kind of thing particularly difficult - the remains may at some point be eaten by the other ospreys. If you don't feel you are up to seeing that you may wish to look away from the livestream for a couple of days.
Edit: Sorry Frazz, not trying to take over your thread, I just spotted this news though.
How very sad, poor little thing, the weather has been bad the last 24 hours, I think the parents sense when a chick is weak, Dorcha would instinctly protect the strongest.
The thread is for all to report on MrM, we are bound to see different things at different times.
Apparently they keep adding to the nest to make a cradle, hopefully to stop the bobs falling out as they get more active. They are such good parents, their natural instinct to care for the chicks is incredible.
