Hair oiling is the art of nourishing the hair, specifically the roots, with herbal oils, and is an ancient Ayurvedic ritual whereby an oil is massaged into dry hair and washed out the next day. The result? Thicker, stronger hair.
Indian Head Massage How-to
Start with some shoulder rotations: clockwise (x5 times) + anti-clockwise (x5 times) Next, preform some shoulder shrugs with small hold at top (x5 times) and then shoulder presses with opposite hand on opposite arm pressing from neck to elbow (x5 times each side). Next, for a neck massage, with three middle fingers rub the back of the neck, each side, and tilt head slightly to side and rub for 20-30 seconds each side. Then to apply the hair oil. Find crown chakra point by placing hand in a L-shaped position. Then place your thumbs on the top of your ear and then make your index fingers meet at the top of your head – this is your crown chakra point. Spread the oil from this point outwards to your whole scalp, roots to tips. Scalp rub with the right hand to the right side and left hand to the left side. Rub from the back of the head first. For your lower head use more your lower palm and for the top of head move more your upper palm/fingers. Tilt the head forward a little and go around the head with the pads of the fingers to energise the scalp. Perform raindrops movement around the head with fingers moving up and down. Follow with small circular movements with fingers from front to back, getting fingers under hair and focusing on the scalp. Squeeze and lift by placing palms on specific areas of head with both hands, squeeze slightly then lift and release. Finish by stroking the fingers from the top to bottom of head.
I had my first professional head massage in India. It was so relaxing. There used to be a hairdresser in the village who gave a short head massage when she washed your hair in an effort to tempt you could book a half hour oil head massage. I never got round to it.

I used to get an short head massage before a hair cut and really enjoyed it. Sometimes when getting hi/lo lights you would get a hand massage during the wait. All gone for the moment.

Sounds good Liv. I haven’t seen the ‘Spa day’ customers at my centre yet - just seems to be the members allowed in. Could be the bring your own towels dictum is preventing the salon from restarting using all the facilities.
Last time we went to Cwrt Bleddyn in Usk. It was 30's treat. At the time they used Ren products which I liked. I see from their website that they've switched to Elemis which is a pity as far as I'm concerned. cwrtbleddyn.co.uk/
"Update: 6th August 2021 From Saturday 7th August guests no longer need to wear a face mask, however our team will continue to do so. We will also leave in place screens and social distancing measures. Of course, please feel free to wear a mask should you wish to. We will ensure that the journey forward will be taken step by step for the protection of our customers and our team, with safety our prime concern. Please note you will still need to wear a mask, by law, in the spa and gym."

I do use the Elemis Frangipani Monoi oil which has to be warmed up to massage my ankles. It’s very soothing. I tried other Elemis oils but it’s the warmth of this one that works.
What was the brand in that hotel spa we visited in Wales?
Well done Nellie I think I sampled ESPA at a spa once.
I've been spurred on by this thread & been on to my girls to pick a date, my treat. They can fight it out between themselves as to when they will both be free. I'm always free these days
