It looks like we have come to the end of the road.
I had a break buying from them but in the last 2 months I ordered 3 items. The last one was the Elemis TSV which I was going to split between the DILs for Christmas pressies. On all of the orders I have been hammered with custom charges - I had a postcard from the Post Office today to say that when I pay €17.90 custom charge they will release the parcel for delivery.
I won't be ordering from them again, it increases the price considerably. I don't get charged customs on orders from Amazon.
Yes Yorko , it must be. I admit that the post office in this country are a load of thieving shysters who add their own charge in addition to the customs/VAT. So many people are complaining about it and poor Gabby in our local post office says she is getting a load of verbal from irate customers.
Q.Will I be charged VAT on delivery when purchasing an item from QVC to be delivered internationally?
A.Items being delivered internationally (including Republic of Ireland) with a value of €22 or more will now carry a VAT and administration charge upon delivery.
This cost will be required to be paid directly to the courier company.
Another Brexit success story then as hordes of foreign customers are driven away from buying from an American company with subsidiaries in various places like the UK.
They are a bunch of robbing shysters anyway with their daft one P & P per item even if people order 10
Then charges for returns as well, lots of places give you an option of one or the other free, or at least a scale of prices from next day to 5 days (usually a free option)
You are right Yorko. But that's me finished now with them. I wonder how many customers they have lost over here or other countries in Europe. I doubt they care very much.
We have always had to pay courier charges on any items over 22 euro if the customs charges are not prepaid by the sender, which includes postage. That's from before we lived here. The difference in VAT between us and U.K. is minimal so many U.K. companies pay the customs and the receiverees VAT in advance. I stopped using QVC because they won't do that. This is long before Brexit. Other companies have adapted. All over the world, customs charges have been tightened in the last 2 years.Nothing to do with Brexit. However, Brexit has made some of the permissions and paperwork more laborious and the courier companies have pounced on it and they now charge to get your parcels released from custome, and delivered, often when they have already been paid upfront by the sender. It is the couriers who are the shysters in all this as well as the large companies who don't ensure that their chosen couriers are not doing this.
It's a great pity the right of free speech isn't based on the obligation to say something sensible.
If I see something on there I usually source it more cheaply elsewhere. I’ve been a customer since 2004 and they’ve definitely gone downhill. The fact that they seem to always feature Dyson and Marla Wynne “fashion” means I rarely watch the channel nowadays. The two new presenters haven’t added anything to the channel either and the old ones have got worse.
I bought my first item from them in Jan 1996 but haven't bought now for a few years.
I used to buy quite a bit of craft stuff from US companies on ebay and if it was below £15 then VAT and import duty didn't apply. Since the rules have changed (again, not due to brexit I don't believe) they are supposed to add relevant duty. The problem is that it is added to everything even well below £15.
The thieving shyster club membership is expanding rapidly!
