It will come as no surprise to most that I am having issues with this delightful courier company!
Over the last month I have had 3 deliveries expected from a company that uses Hermes - 2 bought by me, one by Secondborn but sent to me. The company say they do their best to give you next day delivery. On each occasion I have had same day despatch.
First parcel despatched on a Friday. On Saturday tracking said on its way so I expected it Monday. By the following Friday the tracking hadn't changed. Eventually arrived on the next Monday following some emails. Secondborn's parcel due Dec 20th eventually arrived about 5pm on Christmas Eve. Latest parcel at delivery depot yesterday 5am, due that day. 9-20pm tracking changes to sorry not coming today, next working day instead. Midnight I get an email from Hermes saying they'll update me on Jan 4th!!
I know some folks on here have great Hermes people. It is painfully obvious I don't! There are so many horror stories about them that I can't understand why companies still trust them to deliver. Cheap, I guess!

Their tracking is all over the place. Most mysterious of all is Yodel for deliveries in our area. A new one to me is fdll uk who are allegedly delivering something to me today. I haven’t clicked on the link it case it is a scam. There is a company called Fast Despatch Logistics according to google.
No update so it looks like it will be Tuesday before I hear anything.
Our Hermes used to be reasonably good but for the last 4 or 5 years they have been appalling. Interesting to hear DPD are bad in some places. They are probably the ones that have been the most reliable here! I don't think they have ever missed their given hour slot. Hermes struggle to hit the right week! And as BMcP said their tracking is terrible, as is their help system. You could go round in circles all day!
I think credit where credit is due is always important, so I should like to say that Hermes might just have pipped DX Express for unbelievable excellence at being useless.
What other company could visit a house where two people are self-isolating with each other and still manage to put two slips through the door to say they attempted delivery? The two slips actually have no indication as to what was to be delivered and when they might try again, just two slips with nothing filled out.
Maybe they need a notice on the door saying “We’re in but are self isolating so please ring the bell and leave it on the doorstep.” Unless they can’t read of course. 🙄
When I had my knee replacement, I had one on the door asking people to give me time to get to the door as I was recovering from a knee operation. It worked and everything reached me on time, although I was a bit slower to take it from them.
In our office which is part of a complex delivery drivers are directed to the offices by the building receptionist (not now of course as we are not there)
We have a clear large sign screwed to the wall giving instructions to punch in a code on a keypad and speak to someone in the office who will come to the door
Many times people would hear banging at the door and when answering it the person could barely speak English let alone read it

This does not always work as I discovered when Mr BMcP was golfing on an occasion after my ankle fusion where an Amazon driver shouted and cursed at me for failing to get to the front door quickly enough in spite of the fact there was a note and I had knocked from an upstairs window to say I was on the way. I was shocked by his attitude and made a complaint via the telephone to Amazon directly as I had saved the direct phone number as a screen shot from an article I had seen in a newspaper that very week. When you have experienced a condition that slows you down it puts the tin lid on it when you are berated by a person who owes their living to delivering you goods you have paid for.
I’m obviously really lucky then because all delivery drivers, the postman and visitors waited patiently until I opened the door. I had a lot of deliveries for the three months when I was unable to drive to go shopping.
