I cant say that any of these new fangled pie fillings are grabbing me
Some of the more exotic pie fillings this year include Kangaroo, Ale and Tasmanian Pepperberry, Spiced Miso Beef Short-ribs and Sour Cherries, Chicken and Bovril Balti and Rhubarb and Custard 'Barbara'. There's also a Christmas Dinner Pie, complete with turkey, stuffing and all the trimmings, among the entries
Give me a nice Kate and Sidney (apologies to any Cockneys ) or meat and tater any day
Oh it's a Melton Mowbray show, we'll be near there in June for a few days and I fully intend to buy one of their famous pork pies, along with some stilton cheese. It won't be cheap but they are unbeatable.
Pies labelled "Melton Mowbray Pork Pie" have to be made in Melton by law, those "Vale Of Mowbray" one you see in Morrisons are fake.
Yeah, shove your fancy fillings, and I've no idea what a Rhubarb and Custard Barbara is either, presumably a pie with rhubarb and custard in. I'm not a fan of rhubarb.
Pastry is something I have to avoid, delicious as it is.
Funny stuff pastry because it isn't particularly delicious on it's own, and needs a filling. Then again it's the same with bread, you wouldn't munch on a plain round, you need something on it or between two rounds to make it delicious.
Imo.
Hmm, we'll have to look into strange sandwiches too.
