Well two of them (oldies) almost literally barged us off the footpath in Oakham town centre as they breezed through, I hurled some abuse and Mrs M amazingly didn't tell me off. Later on the bar staff at The Wheatsheaf were surly and clearly annoyed as we dared to order some baguettes at 1:58pm, last lunchtime food orders being 2pm. It's one of those places that are full of snobby upper class types who don't like tourists visiting and disturbing their posh town.
You wouldn't catch me slagging tourists off...
Anyway, today we're just back from Stokesley Classic Car Show, and it was excellent. I'll post some pics later.
I'm not one for much pre-60's, but Mrs M found this 1934 Rolls Royce 20/25 Sports Saloon of interest. Apparently in 1938 it was moved down to Jersey, but when WW2 broke out it was put into hidden storage to hide it from the Germans. After the war, it moved back up to Kensington and the Queen Mother travelled in it quite often.
I'm even less into American cars but again this Buick 8, an automatic 4.1 litre beast, was at one time used by (but not owned by) George Formby. It's a RHD conversion imported over here from across the pond. I'd imagined George Formby would have been more a Morris Minor type of bloke.
Always some shyster in one of these at a car show.
I loved this 1950 Jaguar XK120, sadly I was holding the dog while taking the photo so I lost the front n/s wing and gain two pensioners in deck-chairs.
A smashing Mk1 Escort 1600 Mexico parked next to a 1300E.
