My favourite car from the past (not mentioned in the quiz) is a Vauxhall Firenza 2.3 Sport SL ..
There was a silver one at thr show, Lily, but the owner had added stupid flared arches and spoilers which I hate to see. Classics should be kept as original as possible imo.
Whoever thought of dropping a 2.3 litre lump into a 2 door Vauxhall Viva gets my approval.
The one at the show was silver lily, I wish I'd taken a photo now.
When we were 17 and just passed our tests, a mate of mine bought a bog-standard 1972 Viva. We drove to a disused airfield where he took it up to 75mph and turned right...
L-R: Mini Flame (1989) , Mini 30 (1989) , Mini Cooper 35 (1994)
The Cooper was not like the relaunched Coopers that came out in the early 90's, this was a special edition based on the original Coopers of the 1960's with upgraded trim and mechanics. Only 200 of these were made.
Someone's put footage of the show on Youtube, featuring several cars mentioned in this thread.
But sadly not yours truly, his wife and dog.
He also spends too much time on the featured groups (Jags, Astons, TVRs), American contraptions, modified junk and flaming Massey Fergusons, rather than the everyday Capris, Escorts and Minis. Each to their own I suppose, it's still a good video.
