Yes thats all good but what about the people in the middle (I count myself in that) not rich, not on the breadline. It still makes a difference to us
Exactly Yorko, a hell of a difference. And where there are always people or families who are struggling for whatever reason, this massive price hike is going to push millions more into the poverty trap.
Another thing I don't get - the price cap set by Ofcom(?) is supposed to protect us from such problems, yet here it is being set every three months now at ever increasingly unsustainable levels. WTF is that all about?
Nadhim Zahawi may not be Chancellor by the time that this ridiculously long fiasco is over. I’d prefer to see a whole new cabinet although it might not make any difference to the way the country’s going. 😳
On the news today, they stopped calling it a price cap. They called it a price hike. That’s much more accurate because it’ll be going up every three months, so that’s not capping the cost in my opinion.
Spot on Yorko, other than the very rich everyone is going to be affected to some extent or other. I didn't qualify for the council tax reduction because property prices around here even for a fairly modest house are so high which means most are in the E+ bracket and there must be many all over the country who despite owning their property are actually cash poor
People who are wrong are just as sure they're right as people who are right, the only difference is they're wrong

Read up about the oil producers MrM, the suppliers have to pay their prices. I think I'm right in what I heard a couple of days ago, that Saudi Arabia have made something like 69 billion so far this year keep hiking prices week by week.

The suppliers, certainly of petrol and diesel, and I'm sure of gas and electricity too, have made billions in profit since the prices have been raised, likewise the govt has done very nicely with VAT and duty charges. It's the customers that are bearing the brunt of all this while the fat cats and shareholders line their pockets. It's the suppliers profits that need to be capped, along with the director's bonuses, with the excess funds put into bringing down the price to the consumer. Liz Truss however insists big profits are not a bad thing, so what hope is there when the politicians don't give a stuff? She'll be OK this winter and no mistake.
