Well, I watched it last night - and, I thought it was pretty good. It was a generally-faithful remake of the original, with the right mix of innovative new events and returning classics.
With that being said, Mark Clattenburg needs to stop imitating John Anderson!
In the first episode I thought father and son worked quite well together. By episode 2 I decided that it was going to get really irritating, probably by episode 3! He is an absolute clone of his dad though!
I saw odd bits of the original and it seemed OK. Having now seen the reboot 2 weeks running I am already getting a bit bored with the format - games and gladiators. Legend needs a good slap and Viper needs a chill pill.
Nothing much that the BBC put out is my thing generally speaking. Cheap game shows & poorly produced dramas along with endless repeats.
Including Gary Lineker. 🙄
I’ve just paid for my TV licence and ought to get a refund 😉 as I rarely watch BBC channels and certainly avoid anything that’s football related. The only things worth watching, in my opinion, are David Attenborough’s nature documentaries (and The Traitors 😉)
Well, that's the thing about nostalgia... the appeal is very wide, but very shallow.
I've seen three episodes so far, and I've enjoyed them, but I'm not sure if I'll watch any more. I don't think the reboot is bad at all - but, like I said, it needs to offer more than just nostalgia if it's to keep people interested in the long term.
I agree, Kyng, reboots need an added something. Different times/different strokes
Indeed. But if you change too much, then it alienates fans of the original show - whereas if you change too little, then people might as well just watch repeats of the original (and you don't really address the reason why the show was axed in the first place!)
