We are about to become parents again - Cordelia, who runs NineLives, found a tiny black kitten dodging traffic an one of our busiest roads. All the foster folk are full and she herself has no more room. She put out an appeal but many here are superstitious about black cats. Sam said "It's ages since we had a black cat" and somehow, we agreed to take him. We have said for ages that we don't want the hassle of another one and we have to think how the others will react ,but Alice, in her brief time with us, changed our mindset. Cordelia will hang on to him until next week as we have a big crowd here on Sunday for the Hash AGM and it would be scary for him. We have named him Alexi and he is about 8 weeks old.

Fergus , one of the dogs next door, can now look over the garden fences at the back of our house since next door had their garden landscaped. He looks like Les Dawson when he stands up and looks over ( he is a big dog) but he has taken to barking at the same time. The cats don’t seem bothered. He’s going to have to quieten down or counter measures to discourage his chatting over the fence will have to be taken. I don’t like being stared at while I am enjoying a glass of cava in my own garden.

We have thought of that Frazz, but I wouldn’t like relations with the neighbour to go to pot and end up as one of those stories you hear about in the tabloids. Also concerned it might turn the dog’s temperament off kilter.
I was joking Berry, although one of these is tempting?
I trained all my cats with a houseplant spray set on jet. It worked well, especially stopping getting on work surfaces, jumping into the curtains for attention etc. Very gently though.
Alexi AKA 'Bonkers kitten' has been with us for 2 days now and we are slowly getting used to the mayhem after many years of older cats with set routines. To say he is lively is a gross understatement...
