Having a new kitten at the moment, I'm thinking about those extra claws! Was it a problem when he was a baby?
HI Frazz , his name is Hemmy , we had him as a rescue cat when he was 4 years old, he had been in the rescue shelter for nearly 18 months, he also has a flea allergy so perhaps that and his freaky feet was why he got passed over , we did go looking for a kitten and fell in love with him instead I do have to take him to the vets to clip his claws on his extra toes because they don't retract like normal ones do. we had him in August 2013

Oh Alf has a flea allergy too! We've had a lot of success with Advocate combined with Advantage. The Advabtsge is great for the contact dermatitis but doesn't clear the fieas on Alf. He has to be fully topped up all year round.
There's a fairly new collar out that is supposed to be good but my two don't wear collars. They used to, as I wanted people to see they weren't strays, until I realised you couldn't see the darned things anyway. I'm sure I could get a collar on Alf if I needed to do but at £20 a go I'd want to be sure he wouldn't lose it AND it would fit round his chubby neck!

i use the advocate , seems to work well so far , he has quite a few scars from previous flea bites
I think Advantage is a recommended treatment for flea contact dermatitis. And that's available over the counter. My vet actually recommended that for Alf but its not enough on its own sadly. Works fine on Harvey.
