I think REM is a surprise because they're largely a 90's band, when they were more succesful anyway. But it seems like I picked a decent list. No complaints just yet.
Two from 'Other Not Listed' for me - Heaven 17 and Marillion. Heaven 17 particularly - a couple of bars of Penthouse and Pavement and I'm back at uni!
I have picked ones that immediately transport me back to the 80s when I hear them. Much as I love Queen, for example, they don't necessarily take me back to that time so don't make the cut. My other 3 were Springsteen, Bon Jovi (several eras but 'Livin' On a Prayer' and I'm there!) and Erasure.

Love Marillion. But every time I get bad response from (men mostly it's true) on music boards you would not believe. First two albums Script and Fugazi were amazing I thought. Not much for me after those but I don't get the denial of appeal.
Can't believe I'm the only Frankie Goes to Hollywood fan! I thought Relax was the perfect 80s pop song and Holly Johnson has an amazingly powerful voice.
Don't ask me what I think of you, I might not give the answer that you want me to.

They might have been my 6th choice. I remember having a Relax t-shirt and obvs one of those War! ones and three different 12" singles of Two Tribes.
Welcome To The Pleasuredome was s fine album too. They were a novelty that were not meant to last. Their producer Trevor Horn of course had already worked with Buggles and Art Of Noise I think before, went on to work on a lot of other stuff.
