Well I thought it was Mr FP checking in but it turned out to be a company who according to the tinternet have a vacuum cleaner connection. I didn't give him the chance to get that far but told him he was breaking the law and wanted his name and number , which he did give me,I then told him I would report the call to TPS and to b****r off.The number he gave me is not the same as the 1471 number. I have logged this one as we had a couple yesterday too.
We get told it pays these companies to cold call, damned if I can see how. I don't know a single person who has anything good to say about it. Coming to the door calling has started again here, must be the time of year. "We are in the area offering..." I'm going to tell the next lot they need to go to specsavers, it says quite categorically on the door not to call!!!
I know what you mean they're a b****y nuisance I had one the other day saying that due to the age of the properties in my road they would be carrying out surveys of the exteriors and roofs in the next few days, nothing about who they were or what they were selling and as most of my neighbour's are retired or elderly they could be fooled into thinking they were from the council.
People who are wrong are just as sure they're right as people who are right, the only difference is they're wrong
We rarely get anyone knocking the door. We've had just one Trick or Treater since we moved here in 1980, but today a very nice lady knocked explaining that we had a letter (did we?) explaining she would call. It was all to do with the Welsh Health Survey 2015. I didn't mind assisting with that.
Don't give any traceable details Mim or your insurance will go up. DD that is very shabby salesmanship. Definite scammers.
I never buy anything or answer any questions from or for cold callers either at the door or on the phone, if I need or want anything I do the research and then get quotes
People who are wrong are just as sure they're right as people who are right, the only difference is they're wrong
I had a rep from the RSPCA around the other week - I did offer them Barney (yorkie) but she declined - I told her (as I do all other cold callers) that I do not do "doorstep finance". If I receive calls by phone, I do not engage in conversation with the person just tell them I am a tenant (not true) and they disconnect pdq ...

I had one a couple of months back that started that way- did they want to do a survey on Italian Food? Once you answer a question they can then say that you are willingly accepting the call. I cunningly said that they were talking with the one person in GB who couldn't stand Italian food ( a lie!). Threw them right off!

Cog's experience with CS reminded me of yet another phone call yesterday. I picked the phone up rather than let it go to answer phone in case it was Mr FP from farflung places but it was an arrogant pipsqueak demanding to speak with Mr FP about - well, I didn't let him get past the name of his company before putting the phone down after saying he couldn't speak to Mr FP. He was sqawking still as I put it down and rang the number again immediately. Of course it switched to the answer phone. Then he rang again! I was enjoying myself immensely by this time. He tried again about an hour later to no avail. As I know that Mr FP would never arrange for a company to get in touch at home whilst he is away it is so obvious when they are trying to cold call.
