WEEKEND BOX OF CHOCOLATES AS SEEN IN THE SEVENTIES PROBABLY
I had forgotten all about these until I googled Matchmakers and then saw a picture of these.
Matchmakers were in slimline boxes and I remember girls liking a finger or two so I used to buy girls I liked a box. They were in three flavours, mint, coffee and orange. Mint was my favourite because it made me go completely menthol.
Weekend chocolates, I remember it because I liked almost ALL the flavours. Don't know what happened to them but Weekend were popular, up there with Black Magic and Dairy Box.
I have never seen them but they do look a bit like the candies my grandmother had in the cupboard. and yes bobbins, I am not a fan of the jellies either.
Sherbet dabs were always a give away after a trip to the cinema. I remember my mother getting out the dreaded hankie - you know the one she spit on the corner - to clean us up before we got too far down the high street.
I remember Weekend after seeing the picture, I use to like those.
I'm not really a fan of anything mint flavoured, with the exception of Clarnico Peppermint Creams. I buy them sometimes in Sainbury's. I love the crispy coating they have.
As a young boy my pockets were always bulging. Black jacks and fruit salads mostly, sometimes those candied shrimps, there were yellow ones too, candied bananas. Cola cubes were nice as well.
