How do you make a bouquet of flowers last when you've been lucky enough to get your mitts on one? Flowers in my house tend to be picked from the allotment and I have a ready supply but bouquets are special.
I've just given the stems a trim, washed the vases and given them fresh water. They're looking good actually but we are only on day four.
I was sent a fabulous bouquet of peonies and roses by a dear friend last month and they lasted nearly a fortnight with the water changed every few days. Gorgeous they were!!
Don't ask me what I think of you, I might not give the answer that you want me to.
I thought I'd better google it first, but I was sure sugar is suppose to be good.
"Make your own preservative to keep cut flowers fresh longer. Dissolve 3 tablespoons sugar and 2 tablespoons white vinegar per quart (litre) of warm water. When you fill the vase, make sure the cut stems are covered by 3-4 inches (7-10 centimeters) of the prepared water."
