I picked a pound and 12oz of tayberries last week and 12oz of raspberries. This week I'll have more of both. And next week may be the first of the redcurrants and gooseberries.
I'm picking peas, broad beans and courgettes too.
I've got beans forming on my borlotti beans and my French beans, pea beans and runner beans are flowering.
Lots of little gem lettuce ready to pick and chillies and tomatoes are producing fruit but nowhere near ready to pick yet. Actually I've had one tomato lol.
My first early potatoes have produced well and I have salad and main crops still in the ground.
I have apples, pears and plums ripening too.
At this time of year I am reminded that my spring case of allotment arse was for a reason.
I keep us in fruit and veg from about May through to February. I only buy things I can't grow likes mushrooms and aubergines or something different when I can't face another runner bean lol.
Off to top and tail the gooseberries now. Gooseberry fool anyone?
