One of the drawbacks Lidl has for me is I cannot buy a couple of garlic bulbs, half a cucumber etc. This week they had punnets of snack cumcumbers.
I expect you are going to say they are readily available but I've obviously not noticed them before. They taste very good and sliced lengthways one is just right for a sandwich.
I've bought them before in Sainsburys but they are always available on a stall on the Friday market here and in the farm shop.
But they are easy peasy to grow yourself. I grow mine in the greenhouse but actually you could easily grow them in a garden room or conservatory and they should be OK outside on the patio in a pot up a bamboo wigwam or a trellis. From two plants I get somewhere between 2 and 8 a week once they get going.
The only variety I can remember is Cucino. But there are others.
Basically they're pickling cucumbers. You know ... dill pickles in the chippie? Just some smart bunny started selling them raw.
