Our Millie is most upset. She's effectively been outside for a month as she loves the warm weather and the sun, so she just comes in for food, she's always been like this. Tonight of course we're mid storm and she can't grasp the concept that if it's crap out the back it's going to be the same out the front. She's even tried the left front window against the right, and hissed at Mrs M who opened the window only for the rain to come in. It seems therefore to be Mrs M's fault, I'm the good guy as I gave her a pouch of Whiskers while she decided what to do. Now sitting grumpily on the window sill. Millie that is, not Mrs M.
Yes I think all cats do that at some point. Check in case it’s better out the front. Alf did that the once and honest to god it was raining out the back but not out the front. I swear he looked at me as if to say “you’ve lied to me all these years”. Just before the rain started splattering on his head lol.
Earlier this year, some of our cat's first experience of snow, was funny. Three of them raced outside to chase and catch the whirly white things which were obviously a new game we had organised for them. The white bits disappeared when batted and then - Horror - they left their paws wet. Synchronised washing followed with glaring appeals to us to stop the game as it was no longer clever or funny....
It's a great pity the right of free speech isn't based on the obligation to say something sensible.
Ruby pulled an all-nighter outside. I came downstairs to look for her around 2 ish & again at 4:30, but no sign. She's in now, flat out on the settee after emptying her food dish. We are going to have a serious talk later.
Our Millie opted to stay out last night despite the deluge. I'm sure the neighbours must think we're callous uncaring b*****ds, but she was frantic being indoors and insisted she went out. I nipped out earlier and she sauntered towards the door, then turned and wandered off again. Like I said she'll be out all Summer apart from feeding time, she'll probably give up around mid-October.

Ours are out all night from early April, their choice. Cosmo usually beds down on the balcony then jumps down into the garden at some point. we couldn’t keep them in if we wanted to as they headbang the bedroom door and yell until we let them out.

Harvey comes and goes as he pleases. Like Millie he is very much an outdoor cat. He spends more time in the garden these days than he used to when Alfie was about but he rarely comes in during the day. Even when it isn’t blazing sunshine. Even in winter he goes out for hours on end.
My Millie won't stay in when it's hot, especially at night. Boots mainly stays in and obviously wants to sleep on the bed as usual, but he doesn't stay long, even with the fan on. Jasper used to lie at the bottom of the bed on his back, he loved the fan blowing on him.
I'm sure everyone, including the North, will be pleased to hear this weather is going to continue in the South well into the middle of August! The North West has the first hosepipe ban, and after seeing their reservoirs on the news, it's hardly surprising. I'm amazed there hasn't been one here yet, any day now I'm sure. It's going to be odd in a few years time hearing people say "Do you remember the summer of 2018?" instead of "The summer of 76".
There's been some hoo ha about this hosepipe ban already, seems the ban will reduce water usage by 5 - 10%, but if the water board fixed the leakages they'd use 20% less water.
