Everything drives me nuts! You won't remember my near successful Christmas Eve attempt to remove my thumb nail trying to split a swede in half a good few years ago, but I have no feeling in the top half inch. Add what I thought was carpal tunnel syndrome , but is degenerative nerve damage on the top of my hand, same symptoms but no fix, I find it difficult to sew, press buttons on my phone, numerous other things and I've had to buy one of those ring can openers!
It's how you come to accept that you really can't do what you use to do in a day anymore. The mind is still willing but the body objects! I've reached the point of acceptance over the last 12 months.
I was a bit lax putting on my SPF this morning Toril Don't tell Abi Cleeve whatever you do. In my defence dawn was breaking when I went outside and I got so engrossed in lifting and moving patio slabs I didn't notice how bright it was until I finished. I've been re-jigging the patio layout so that I can get easy access to the ivy that explodes every year. Then it was off to get some Violas. I've inserted a narrow flower bed in the patio and planted 3 Lavender bushes. They are tiddly at the moment so I fancied bi-coloured Violas to fill the gaps. A bit late in the season, but I got some in Homebase. I won't plant them until this evening. Himself is on day 3 of jet washing the drive. He's a bit
I wear sun factor all year round because I burn easily as I’m fair skinned. I know we don’t get much sun in winter but the Ultrasun anti-ageing face stuff serves as my moisturiser so I just whack it on.
I’ve ticked off the main job that I needed to do although it’s nowhere as hard as the one you’re doing, Liv. 😳 I treated all the bloc paving earlier this year and no algae has returned (yet) but I wanted to finish off the fencing. Armed with an 8 litre sprayer I tackled it. Pumping the syringe thing up and down to put pressure into the sprayer was my work out for the day. 😉 I had to do that a lot as I had a lot of fencing to do. I did some when I did the bloc paving, but ran out of spray. 🙄
Anyway, I finished a few minutes ago (thank goodness as the heat is mounting) and the algae on the fence that I did first (just under an hour ago) is now totally clear. I know the stuff I use is excellent but I’m amazed as it usually works overnight, but in less than an hour? Well, I’m gobsmacked.
In celebration I’m staying the house until late afternoon/early evening where it’s nice and cool. 👍
(You’ll have to post photos once it’s all finished.) Liv ,
The gardening’s finished for now and I had planned to remove the tiled boxed in section in the kitchen that’s hiding the boiler pipes as the new boiler is going in a week tomorrow. The new boiler is smaller than my current one and will be moved over because of the new regulations. Apparently a boiler has to be a minimum distance from a gas hob. Needless to say, mine isn’t because it was here when I moved here. I’ve managed to loosen it without damaging any tiles but I can’t take it off without removing the front of the boiler. I’m certainly not going to attempt that!!
Although they asked if I could take it off, I’m going to leave well alone and hopefully the builder will sort it out before faffing about outside doing the soak away. I think that’s safer than my botching it and causing a gas leak.
I had another go in the garden today. To be honest I'm quite glad the weather has broken because I'm exhausted & creaking. I wish I could leave it alone, but there's so much to do and if it's dry I've got to be doing it.
Himself is going to box in our CH boiler pipes. It's a snake farm under that boiler. It's only been 30 and some years since he said he'd do it
