I'm not a big meat eater myself. I do love a thick, juicy pork chop.
And bacon now and again. If bacon is crunchy, it doesn't seem like one is eating meat. More like a veggie. (OK, more like a potato chip.)
What I find interesting about my vegetarian friends is that they eat a lot more pasta and rice and bread. Diets high in starch can be unhealthy in the long haul.
And one girlfriend won't eat meat but she snacks on chocolate all the time.
I was teasing her and said, "I think I eat more vegetables than vegetarians do."
I think it is more about a balance in what one eats. Anything too radical seems like it can throw things off and become a problem.
Is anyone here doing a Dry January? I’m finding it a doddle. 😉
I don’t know if anyone caught the interview on This Morning yesterday. The two being interviewed were a vegan and a meat eater (omnivore, as she also ate vegetables.) All I can say is that the vegan came across as really sanctimonious - it was his way or no way. If I was ever considering veganism (which I’m not) his attitude would have driven me to have a bacon sandwich.
I made 24 bacon-wrapped eggs,a tray of spicy chicken wings, sausage casserole, and roasted a kilo of sprouts which had been marinating since last night.I am about to process a massive bag of pomegranates, just stopped for a breather. For breakfast, I had bacon sandwiched between 'chaffles', made with egg and cheese. Do you see a theme developing here.... I may designate next month as Carnivoruary.
It's a great pity the right of free speech isn't based on the obligation to say something sensible.
What these vegans don't grasp is there would be no cows or sheep or pigs or chickens trotting gaily round the fields or battery farms if everyone became vegan. This is because the farming industry is based on the idea that the farmer rears his animals to sell for meat, or in the case of cattle used for milking too, similarly the eggs from the chickens, to make a living. The farmers are not going to go through all the expense and many working hours keeping livestock for a few vegans to go all dewy eyed over in the fields.
The pet food industry and pet owners wouldn't be too happy either.
I'm sure vegan pet food is viable, but most pets are carnivores. We all remember what happened when they fed herbivores a meat based supplement, but I guess the vegan police will recommend we give up keeping pets sooner or later.
It's those poor carrots, potatoes, cabbages, tomatoes, apples, nuts and pomegranates I feel sorry for. The suffering they take from these pesky vegans.
I mean pomegranates for example are horrible and no one not even vegans likes them, so the Greeks just smash them to a pulp on their doorsteps.
