I can't remember the last time I went to the hairdresser .... maybe 30 years ago.
When my hair was long my son used to blunt the ends for me because long wispy hair isn't a good look. It's now just below my shoulders and he pops round when I ask him to in order to blunt the ends again.
I'm lucky in as far as I'm still blonde and have no grey (my family usually go white in their mid 80s, so only a couple of years to go ) and so I don't need it dying or the roots sorting out, so really my hair is low maintenance, thank goodness.
It is definitely 3 years, could be 4, since I last went to the hairdresser. Michaelis always cut it beautifully, rescued me from a dreadful 'do'( which I had paid a fortune for after a Toni and Guy franchise opened here)and encouraged me to grow it longer so I am eternally grateful. However my hair is so fine that they could never style it properly so I always had to jam on a hat or run to the nearest cloakroom to try to sort it so I didn't frighten the natives on the bus home. I decided that I was throwing money away. Hairstyling is very expensive here, so I taught myself to cut my own, I had been colouring it myself for many years.I get Sam to check the back for me and trim any bits I have missed and it is like being set free from the tyranny of the hairdresser. I have always sad that I would rather go to the dentist.
It's a great pity the right of free speech isn't based on the obligation to say something sensible.
I don't think I've ever had a hairdresser who understands fine hair, after almost every visit I'd come home and re wash and restyle it which was such a waste of time and money. These days my friend's sister (who is a hairdresser) does it for me so I just have a wet cut then sort it out when I get home but for some reason when she does my highlights she insists on blow drying it but I still have to redo it myself

People who are wrong are just as sure they're right as people who are right, the only difference is they're wrong

I can so relate, DD. Imagine siting there surrounded by Greek ladies with thick glossy hair having hysterics because their fringe is 1/8 inch too long, tossing their luxurious manes in despair. Then, the designated stylist approaches, looks at mine, and you just know she has drawn the short straw... Back in U.K., I eventually found a stylist who had a mother with hair like mine so had had years of practise in making it look it's best and it was the only time in my life I didn't have to rush home and heat up the Carmen rollers.

Not forgetting the insignificant squirt of hairspray even though I'd say it needs plenty to keep it place, I'd leave the hairdressers and one small puff of a breeze and any hint of styling was gone!

I sooo identify with the fine hair babes on here. I tried a Judi Dench, thought 'be done with it,' but my Rugrats said it was not for me.
I'm wondering about Hairfix Follicle Plus offered by Q £25.20 + zero P&P. It's got an extended 90-day money back guarantee on it too. www.qvcuk.com/Hairfix-Follicle-Plus-Anti-Age-Haircare-100ml.product.231923.html?sc=PSCH Tiff was the model chosen to extol it's virtues & in fairness, her hair did look healthy. She has a very strange frozen look about her though. Quite scary.
I used to use Samy Fat Hair volumising shampoo and conditioner which really thickened my hair but its been discontinued and I can't get it here anymore. I sometimes see it on Ebay but it's usually from America and 3 x bottles tend to be about £35-£40 plus £16-£17 P&P then there's the import duty on top so it makes it expensive. Superdrug used to sell it, a couple of years ago when it was on offer I bought quite a few bottles, had I known they were discontinuing it I'd have stocked up. I tried looking on line and it's still readily available in America, I got excited when I found it at very reasonable prices on Amazon US but when I tried to check it out they couldn't/wouldn't ship it here, so on the off chance if anyone happens to see it for sale anywhere could you please let me know?

It's so true Liv, so often you buy just one of something as you want to see how it wears, washes etc decide it's a yes, go back to get more and they've all gone, never to be seen again

Just back from the village barber. I was lucky this time, I got the partially sighted one! No, don't scoff. She did a good job and all for a tenner! I love the way you can just stroll in on a whim as I did & get immediate attention. AND, it's much more interesting than a hair salon. Two young lads were in and I think my presence struck them dumb. Not a peep out of them
