I took a trip to Iceland yesterday to get some ostrich steaks and ended up buying all sorts of things so tonight I had a kangaroo burger with some veg, it was delicious!
Very low in fat and the meat was soft and tender, it tasted somewhere between venison and beef to me. I also bought some meatballs which I'm going to cook in a bolognese sauce. I rarely eat red meat because I have trouble digesting it, this seems to be fine so will be nice to have occasionally. I also thought I would try the wild boar and venison sausages for an occasional treat. Think I'll give the croc burgers a miss though!
I completely forgot to buy the ostrich, so will have to go again next week, doh! It's good to see a range of naturally low fat meats available...sorry Skippy!
I had some kangaroo steaks when Lidl had them as a 'feature.' I didn't dislike them but I wouldn't bother buying them again. I thought they tasted a bit like liver and, although I like liver, the words kangaroo and liver didn't compute. I suppose I expected it to taste more like beef, rather than tasting 'gamey.'
