Eric Clapton is a great guitarist but from the poll on the link I couldn't put him above Jimmy Page (I'm my opinion the greatest guitarist of all time)
My guitar playing son would probably argue with that list. There are some modern guitarists missing. Joe Bonamassa would have to figure on his list and Matt Bellamy from Muse. Oh and Johnny Marr!!
Thanks for the link FP, interesting to read. I loved the Yardbirds when I was a teenager, think I may have seen them live. But I do remember going to see Eric Clapton when he played with John Mayall in gigs at the Marquee Club, Soho. Then along came Cream and himself and I saw them live also, on the London college circuit, where all these new bands played at that time, inc Queen.
Mr Nell and my brother - both guitar players themselves - saw Joe Bonamassa at the Albert Hall a couple of years ago. "Self absorbed, narcissistic, ego maniac" were some of the kinder things they said about him......
Hoping for better when they see Joe Sattriani later this year.
Don't ask me what I think of you, I might not give the answer that you want me to.
Baby Tink loves Joe Bonamassa! He's seen him a few times now. Would never do for everyone to like the same I suppose.
Matt Bellamy is his big musical inspiration. He's why we now have a piano as well as oodles of guitars about the place.
Does Mr Nell just play for pleasure? Or is he in a band? Baby Tink really just plays for pleasure. He has been in bands a few times. And he plays occasionally in a band now but he's never really wanted to join full time.
Must be an age thing - Mr Nell and my bro are considerably older than Baby Tink LOL
Just for pleasure now - he has been in bands (not really my sort of music though ) - but my bro is the bass player in a blues band. We're going to see them this Sat, they're rather good.
