I remember walking to Hamleys and having to queue for ages to see Father Christmas - used to be entertained by Uncle Holly whilst waiting on the stairs.
Lived in Shepherds Bush and every Thursday used to walk (with my mum) to Oxford Street and catch a no. 73 bus home ...
I made myself do all my Christmas cards today, those for abroad, distant friends, close friends, neighbours etc. It's a job I hate, hate, hate! Just got the post office queue bit to do in the morning.
There's some satisfaction in knowing I've done it at least a week early this year, but not much.
Why the hell I don't do them in Oct/Nov and get it out of the way is beyond me! It'll be the same next year lol!
I'm trying to phase out Christmas cards. It's an expensive hobby. My niece was miffed a few years ago when I didn't send one to her but I see her over Christmas. My rule now is if I won't be seeing you you will get a card.
