I do. I use my local baker, the butcher and the two farm shops regularly. If I get time I shop at my local WI food market too. We have an amazing green grocer too but I grow most of my own veg and quite a lot of fruit.
For clothes I shop at a local independent boutique and I now shop regularly from the eBay seller CarolineAnn.
I use local shops where it is as practicable to do so. Dread the local post office going, which no doubt it will in the near future.
All my white goods come from local shops. I do the research online, check things out at Curry's or similar then go to local shop. They will usually match the lowest price or get pretty close, deliver when it's convenient and there's great after service if it's ever required. I use Argos mainly for small electrical goods.
Not On The High Street is a good site for smaller retailers and the more unusual gifts. Good prices as well.
I use the local shops when I only need a few things that way I only buy what's on the list, if I go to the supermarket I always come back with five or six bags this way everyone wins I've supported the local shops and I haven't spend a fortune!
People who are wrong are just as sure they're right as people who are right, the only difference is they're wrong
Ah yes, I use a local independent for white goods too. They're not necessarily the cheapest but only £10 or £20 difference but they deliver next day free of charge and they don't charge to take the old one away.
When I bought a new fridge freezer as the fridge had gone phut the delivery guys even helped me take everything out of the freezer, clean behind it and put it all back in again. As well as taking the old one. That's worth at least £20 on the price!
