I've put this here as I know not everyone will be interested.
The vet took her temperature, which is over 40 degs. He had a good feel all over, and didn't find anything abnormal, including her lymph glands.
He asked if we wanted blood tests done, or to wait, so we said take bloods now, we didn't want to waste any more time. He didn't really know what's wrong, could be viral or bacterial, but the blood tests will check her liver and pancreatic enzymes.
He mentioned AB cover, but we agreed that until we know what's wrong, we'd hold off, so he gave her an anti inflammatory shot to bring her temperature down and make her more comfortable.
So now we just wait until the first blood test results are back tomorrow..
She hasn't eaten anything so far today, so I'm going to try her with some chicken at lunchtime, but she's had a drink and a wee, so that's good. When we got to the vet, she wanted to walk, so we just let her walk around for a few minutes before we went in.
She was such a good girl, I thought she'd scream blue murder, but even though taking the bloods must've hurt, she just stood and let them do it.
Wise to get the blood tests done there & then. When animals are not well repeated trips to the vet just adds to the stress. Besides that, her appetite might very well return today, but you need to rule out anything that could come back. I hope her appetite perks up & you don't have to wait too long for the blood test results. I must say that the results of blood tests done by our vet come back sooner than those done by our doctor
Sorry to hear that the Princess is feeling off colour @incognito, I hadn't known until I read this thread. Hope she'll feel much better very soon and your worries will be eased. I know how stressful it is when a beloved animal is poorly.
Vet just rang, nothing's shown up in the bloods, and her white count is NOT elevated which is good news.
We're going back at 4.15pm, when he'll take her temperature again, and start on her on AB's.
I let her sleep upstairs with us last night, she didn't stir at all, and didn't move till 10.00am. She's been outside and had a drink, and I'm going to try her on some chicken and rice in moment.
