They definitely don't seem interested in what's best for an effective opposition. I think Labour supporters have lost their way. They were so convinced that they would win the last election that somehow they haven't quite recovered.
Not sure if anyone here is an active Labour Party member but in a London constituency meeting tonight a vote on who to support was a very close run thing and Owen Smith beat Jeremy Corbyn by 10 votes. Just under 200 votes cast. May mean nothing in the grand scheme of things but interesting anyway.
I'm not a Labour Party member, but I am a Labour Party supporter. I like Corbyn's old school ideals, but it's not working is it? I think the New Labour thing we've witnessed over the last thirty years has been a watered down Tory policy, and herein lies the problem. What's needed is a combination of the two which I think John Smith might have provided us with until he died at the most inopportune moment, and the rest is history.
Btw I hate political conversations as I don't really know what the chuff I'm talking about.
Mr M do you feel it's Corbyn's policies or his persona that are his downfall? Do you think he's too pseudo Tory or just not strong Laboir enough. Or something in between. I'm not a Labour supporter and I'm just asking, not arguing. Lots of my friends are staunch JC supporters and you can't get a rational conversation going lol.
From outside I like his policies. I think he has heart. I just don't think he is leadership material. I think he would be a strong supportive local MP and I'd be happy if he got in in my constituency ... never gonna happen here, I am in true blue Tory heartland where only the LibDems threaten the stronghold.
There is something about Mr Corbyn I cannot quite fathom - lack of charisma, arrogance, inability to listen to his followers, not sure which but all add up someone who is not a leader for a political party... Unless the Labour Party come up with a strong, charismatic person there will be no opposition to the Conservatives. Just my thoughts ...
I think he certainly lacks charisma. He seems very uncomfortable when he is the focus of attention & has this inability to look anyone in the eye. I think Blair summed him up when he said Jeremy Corbyn was about 'politics of protest not power'

Persona definitely.
He just doesn't SAY anything! Take the Brexit thing for example, I heard nothing of his views, and assumed he'd be wanting to stay in, but he was in favour of leaving as it turned out. (Might have got that the wrong way round, but like I said he didn't exactly advertise his leanings).
I was hoping for someone who was going to offer some serious alternative to 30 odd years of Tory/New Labour (ie more or less the same thing), but he's done nothing.
It's almost like he's been given this chance to change British politics for once, and he doesn't know what to do with that power. It can't be easy granted, given how comfortable the New Labour MPs have been for the past 30 years. The kick up the arse that would have given the electorate a real choice just hasn't happened.
I didn't like Blair but he was at least leader. It's been downhill for Labour since Gordon Brown and I'll never understand what made them elect Ed Miliband over his brother, and now Jeremy Corbyn. I can't personally think of anyone in Labour at the moment that I see as being an inspiration to the party and the country as a whole.
