I realised this morning, when I was getting the mixer out to whisk up the eggs for our omelette, that my little Kenwood Mini, which is minus the bowl (Mr Cog dropped it years ago and broke it smiley-sad050 ) and the stand, because it wasn't any use without the bowl, is 36 years old!!!!! We got it when we got married, and it's still going strong. It doesn't get masses of use, but it does get used regularly, so that's pretty good going. I'm sure all those years ago when we bought it, it wasn't that expensive, so I'd say we've had our money's worth out of it.
Have you got any appliances (and I mean electrical LOL ) that you've had for years?
Me gas cooker dates back to 1986. The grill is a bit churlish but the actual oven is fine. I've had money set aside to replace it for about the last ten years. Not technically electrical but the electrical bits ... the ignition, the clock and lights ... all work.
Mine (hand held - no bowl) was a wedding present and is in almost perfect condition other than the plastic looks a bit yellow. It does nought to 80 in seconds.
I've got a Moulinex Multi Moulinette (mini chopper) that must be at least 25 years old. I had it at my old home and I've been here for 20 years.
Fantastic little gadget, works perfectly and the blades are still good. Being so small it's just right for small portions, and perfect for making fresh breacrumbs.
I have a Braun stick blender that must be 25 years old. It gets used a couple of times a month still. The oldest thing I have is a Fransen hairdryer. It is a professional one that my sister bought me as she was a beauty therapist at the time so had access to the proper stuff. I reckon I have had it for 30+ years. It was long ago replaced as my hair dryer (way too heavy and no attachments) but is still used regularly. It has a cold function so is used for blowing up the inflatable bed and, till fairly recently, the paddling pool too!! Anything inflatable, it's there.
