The youngest of our 4 cats, Sotiris, suffered brain damage when he was hit by a car at only 5 weeks old. He was rescued, operated on and we adopted him when we heard about him not knowing if he had permanent damage. Apart from being crooked - his head lolls to one side and a back leg turns in - his main problem is that he is a perpetual kitten. This was fine, when he was still a kitten but he is now looked on askance by other cats because he is weird. He is 4 now and it was so sad seeing him being shunned by other cats when he wanted to play.About 18 months ago, one of our neighbours rescued a tiny kitten and he and Sotiris became inseperable.Their kitten, Casper, just about lived in our house. Sadly, a few weeks ago, Casper was knocked down and killed and Sotiris has been inconsolable. I have never seen such grief in a cat. I am filling up just writing this because it is heartbreaking to witness. He sits under the neighbour's window calling for his friend or wanders about the garden, maiowing continuously. We sent him stay with our friend Sydney while we were away (it was she who had fostered him, initially) in the hope that it would break the cycle, but he is still upset. On Friday, we are bringing home a kitten, one that he met at Sydney's house, in the hope that they will pal up. We really didn't want to go back to having 5 cats but, if it works, it will have been well worth it. To be continued......................

Aww Cass, that's a sad tale indeed. Poor Sotiris has had a rough time of it so far, let's hope he gets on with the new kitten as well as he did with Casper. It sounds like he needs a friend.
Poor Sotiris it must be so confusing for him, here's hoping a kitten will be a distraction for him and it'll become another wonderful friendship. Years ago I had two of mine run over at the same time, Charlie was killed and Katie was left badly injured but she dragged herself all over the house including climbing the stairs crying and looking for him it was heartbreaking. My sister's cat had just had kittens so I decided to have one of them to keep her company, at first she absolutely hated her, spitting and hissing etc but she was in no condition to keep it up and Holly wormed her way into her heart and they became inseperable for 16 years.
Are you getting a male or female kitten Cass? I'm wondering if a female would be good as first she'd play with him and when she got older she'd mother him?
People who are wrong are just as sure they're right as people who are right, the only difference is they're wrong
Oh DD , you know how it is then.... *** sniffles ***
The new kitten is a boy. Our 2 'girls', Chassis 11 years old and Celeste, 5, while not actively fighting or ignoring each other have a deep-seated rivalry and I don't want to add fuel to the delicate situation that exists between them. Chassis is very definitely Sam's cat and Celeste follows me everywhere. They walk very carefully around each other. The other cat, Cosmo, is 9 and is laid back and good natured and gets on with everyone. He lives to eat and have his tummy tickled and isn't bothered about much else. Fingers crossed that kitten is the answer as Sam and I are in bits and feeling so helpless.

,Good afternoon all Vassili was very good on the hour's journey to our house. . He is curious rather than afraid, which is a first with a feral kitten for us. he is asleep on my knee at the moment. Sotiri looked at him and then rushed to play out as he has been in since last night.Cosmo sniffed him and walked away. Chassis growled at him, but she doesn't like anyone except Sam and Celeste hid behind the curtains...
