Ginger Baker was a brilliant drummer, it is true, but a really nasty piece of work by all accounts. Cream didn't last long because of him - Eric Clapton couldn't stand to be around him any longer and Baker tried to take all the credit for their hits whilst dissing Jack Bruce.
Don't ask me what I think of you, I might not give the answer that you want me to.
My son sometimes plays bass. And he tunes out everything but the drummer when he plays "live". Although he sings he finds it hard to sing when he's playing bass as he then can't keep "time". You can tell when he's struggling to play a piece because he closes his eyes and nods his head to keep himself in the music. He's largely self taught on bass. He's had lessons on piano and guitar but not bass.
I regret not learning to play the piano when I was a youngster as I used to enjoy tinkling on my gran's old piano. I compensated by treating myself to an electric keyboard decades later and luckily my daughter developed the same interest. Both self taught but always had an interest in keyboards....a whole band/ orchestra in one...and those are the players I particularly watch in any band we may see.
