I've plucked up courage to open the box again and take photographs. I decided to contact Purina by email and send the pictures. There may well be something at the bottom of the box but I'm not touching anything in it again! The photos came out well and show all the bits on the pouches.
I've had this but without the accompanying creepy crawlies. Think I got my money back and a free pack by taking it back to Sains. You should have seen her face when I opened the box on the counter lol. She didn't want me to leave with her. I insisted.
I can understand them not wanting to keep it Tinks, that's why I thought I'd contact Purina first. Whatever it is, it doesn't look like vermin were responsible!

How horrible Frazz, contacting Purina sounds a good idea but it wouldn't be in their interest to publicise it so I also think Tescos should be informed. As it happpened in the factory they're not at fault and I'm sure they'd be contacting Purina too so it would be less likely to be swept under the carpet as it were
People who are wrong are just as sure they're right as people who are right, the only difference is they're wrong
I'm sure Purina or Tescos would refund you and send some sort of compensation if you contact them Frazz. Mrs M got £70 of vouchers from Sainsburys over some well out of date tomato juice by writing in and enclosing the bar code of the package. They called her back to discuss the issue and made her the offer. In fact she says contact both Tesco AND Purina.
If all else fails, I gather a sternly worded post on Twitter (if you're not on Twitter you'll know someone who is) usually does the trick in record time.
It definitely happened at the factory, I had to break the perforation to open the box. I'll give Purina a chance to respond, they may want the box sent back to them. I have notified Tesco, not sure they will be interested, the chances of this not being a one-off incident is probably remote. I shall take the box back to them if necessary.
