I'm having a dinner party for eight at the weekend and decided to do my shopping at my local Sainsbury's instead of the Tesco's superstore where I usually shop, I wish I hadn't bothered. The fresh produce shelves were almost empty, the fruit and veg sections were sadly lacking in choice and what they did have certainly wasn't up to par! I wanted fresh salmon, there wasn't any so settled for frozen, then I wanted fresh Raspberries there was just one broken punnet left so again I had to settle for frozen, there were no baby leeks, baby sweetcorn or mange tout and lots of the shelves were bare. Plus the drilling noise and vibration from the building work for their new extension was ear piercing and added a headache to my list of woes. I asked the girl at the checkout if they were having delivery problems because of the building work and explained I'd had difficulty finding what I wanted to buy, she said 'no and I'm sorry you've had problems' I'd been to Tesco's for a few bits and pieces yesterday and their shelves were well stocked with plenty of fresh fish. meat, fruit and veg so wish I'd done it all there. I was so disappointed when I got back decided to ring Sainsbury's and I spoke to the store manager 'Dave' I explained my frustration and disappointed and his answer was 'he was sorry but it was a corporate issue and that all supermarkets have problems with supplies of fresh produce the week after Christmas' I said I understood that but pointed out that Christmas was two weeks ago and Tesco's didn't seem to have a problem. I shall certainly think twice before I do a big shop for an occasion in Sainsbury's again
Sorry rant over

Its down to poor management, we went to Lidl and Aldi on Sunday and they had loads of fresh produce in, and tons of boxes waiting to be unpacked. Mr Cog emailed Sainsbury once, because our local had tons of stuff that they were going to reduce, but said they had to wait till midday! What difference did it make, they were going to sell it at a reduced price anyway? We think their drop in sales is because we've stopped shopping there big laugh
Oh forgot to say when I was in Sainsbury's I noticed that I'd also somehow managed to lose a stone out of my favourite (but thankfully inexpensive) seven stone tanzanite half eternity ring too!

I hadn't occurred to me but perhaps it's because people aren't shopping as much so they're reducing their orders so there's less waste but as I said to 'Dave' if it's not on your shelves you can't sell it and I can't buy it and have to go elsewhere

Yes it is. I'll ring TJC tomorrow and see if they can replace the stone but I suspect it'll be cheaper to buy a new one, that's if they've still got them, although it was inexpensive the stones look AA in colour and I often get comments when I wear it
