It has become a standing family joke that I always want lamb shanks when we go out to eat. I don't really, but there have been a few times where I have chosen them from the menu only to find they have all gone, so I have never actually had them.
But that's about to change!! OH got me some in Tesco's reduced section last night, so tonight I am cooking myself lamb shanks with red wine and vegetables. All for me - himself wouldn't touch them with a bargepole! I have perused all the recipes and I am ready to go - I just hope I like them after all this!!
Whatever he can be bothered to prepare, I'll be busy cooking mine! I suppose if the oven is on I might manage to stick something in for him! I shall have to rootle through the freezer - maybe I have a pizza in there.
I like liver and kidneys, Mr Y doesn't so I tend not to eat them as I can't be ars*d making 2 different meals. I also love lamb shanks Attachment Deleted
The problem with pre-prepared ones like, Lidl, is that they usually contain gluten. As do restaurant ones so I can't order them any more! Lamb is probably my favourite meat, but we don't often have it as the others are not so keen. I love kidneys, liver not so much.
When I was young a lamb chop was heaven - picking all the last little bits of meat out of all the nooks and crannies was a joy. My boys have never had that delight because we never buy lamb chops. Mind you, they take after their father food wise! If himself can't just cut a chunk of meat off then we don't have it - no fiddly bones or anything like that. He would rather have a burger than a lamb chop. He will eat a rack of ribs though as the meat is chunky and falls off the bone!
The only time I get lamb (chops or otherwise) is from Tesco's reduced stuff - once in a blue moon.
Well, the lamb shanks were fine. A little too much slimy membrane for my liking, but once that was out of the way I enjoyed it. Drank the rest of the bottle I had opened to add to the pan and zonked out about half nine though!! zzz
