well, true to his word, he arrived, checked everything, and the pumps gone. He can't get a replacement till Monday, but it's ok, it's extremely mild today so we'll be fine till then.
That's good Cog, not a long wait. Obviously when our one went caput on Christmas Eve, we could not even get anyone on the phone for a week.
I'm glad it'll soon be sorted, Cog. There's nothing worse than the heating going wrong in Winter (or at any time.)
Luckily if mine goes wrong I'm covered by the British Gas Homecare cover. I pay an amount each month and it covers me for an annual service, call outs and all parts etc. I've only needed to call them out twice since moving here (which isn't bad considering the combi boiler had never been serviced by the previous owners.) They also fitted a magnabooster filter which gets rid of the gunk that is in the system and which circulates throughout it, even when you don't want it to.
When I was married we also had full cover on our boiler and so I just got my own contract on my house when I got divorced. We never had any problems with the heating for the 30 years I lived in that house but, since I moved out, nearly every bit of the system has broken down and so the ex has now got a virtually 'newly built' heating system and all for the price of a very reasonable monthly fee.
As my hot water is also controlled by the combi boiler (I don't have a header tank or immersion heater) I'm on the phone as soon as there is any hint of trouble and they don't mind popping out for really minor issues. This is just as well as the radiators are the only form of heating I've got (apart from a very small fan heater which I bought ...... just incase.)
All sorted thanks. He turned up with the pump, and it was fitted in no time. Mr Cog asked if we needed a service, but he said as he'd taken everything out and cleaned it while he was checking for the fault, we didn't need one this year.
