As long as the snow has gone meeting up with a friend tomorrow whom I haven’t seen for nearly 12 months. I wanted to take flowers with me but Monday is a bad day for getting flowers early and I want something that lasts so I decided to make a lasting flower gift instead. Her choice is always yellow gold in jewellery. The MDF hoop is painted with gold metallic paint then wrapped with gold mesh ribbon. Fabric , resin and paper flowers attached then trimmed with gold leaves.

The hole in the hoop is about the size of a side plate @sacha, so the flowers aren’t that big. Some crafters make their own but I haven’t the patience for all the curling of the petals so I use Anna from The Craft Box’s flowers and , dare I say, the Bibster’s as her flowers on her website and her parent company Craft Buddy work out value for money. I have a few dies that I use for foliage as it isn’t as labour intensive to make.
Have you ever considered selling the cards and things that you make? As you probably know, I had my own craft business for a few years and did parties, craft fairs and did individual orders. It brought in quite a nice additional income, but I stopped doing the bulk orders because I didn't have the time once the National Curriculum came in and education went into a paper overload.

Thanks Toril , but it’s the sheer pleasure of doing my own thing after years of being constrained by the National Curriculum that I enjoy. If I had to make something somebody else had asked me to do I think it would very quickly become a pain. That ‘s not to say I wouldn’t make something similar to things I have made for a friend if they asked me to for the joy of doing something for a friend. I now take part in a monthly themed ATC swap and I love it because I get to keep other crafters’ ATCs ( Artists Trading Cards).Lovely to put your hand on other people's work and see their techniques and admire their ideas , look at their papers and embellishments. I usually get 2 or 3 back and you can see photos of the ones you didn’t get in the swap.
