Cat flap is back to "locked-out if you leave the house!"
When both cats are glued to staring under the sofa for hours, you know some poor critter is seeking sanctuary. 24 hours later Millie grabbed it again and I chased her out into the garden where she dropped it and it managed to escape.
I was suspicious again yesterday as Boots seemed restless. Sure enough, early hours this morning he is chasing something around the bedroom. No chance of knowing where it was, so he got booted out!
As I was getting ready to go out, I spotted him sitting quietly alongside a long tail poking out from under the sofa, Millie was asleep. Poor little thing was still alive when I picked it up by the tail. Not sure if it was injured or just exhausted, but it’s back in the wild.

Your two are great hunters Frazz. I have been out to lunch today and as I walked down the drive on my way to the door Louise -next- door came up and started having a really long conversation with me - no idea what tale she was telling me but she was keen to chat. Katya was out all last night so perhaps Louise was telling tales!
I'd put money on Millie being the hunter, Boots just excited when she brings something in. I've only seen him once with a mouse in his mouth which I thought he had caught, but I think he may have picked up one of Millie's, she is a terror!
Harvey is the hunter out of my two. When he was little he would bring in several things a week. Alf did hunt but was a bit half hearted once they evaded him. If he couldn't eat them quickly he couldn't be arsed.
Harvey is less active than he once was thank god.
Often it's female cats who are the best hunters. Osca Pusca was prolific. Rats, rabbits ... you name it she caught it. Mowgli was bloody great she used to catch elastic bands and leaves, very little else.

The cats rarely bring anything into the house. We don’t have a cat flap here so I can ‘head them off at the pass’ as it were. I once saw Cosmo devouring a bird. When there was only beak and claws left, I thought that was it, but no, he was saving them as a crunchy little dessert.
It's a great pity the right of free speech isn't based on the obligation to say something sensible.

That’s always bad Diamond Diva. I do find the habit our cats ( and the ones before them) have of leaving the remains underneath the rotary drier is disconcerting when hanging the washing out. Why do assorted cats always choose this spot to display their prizes? Is it a kind of Stonehenge?
