We are supposed to be hitting 100f by Wednesday, it is 35c today. I am making a month's supply of jerky which means that the dehydrator will be on in the kitchen for 24 hours, increasing it's sauna-like quality. I just had a brainwave and moved it to the spare bedroom with the windows open as all it needs is a source of electricity and then leaving alone. I am having a lot of brainwaves recently, must be the heat...
It's a great pity the right of free speech isn't based on the obligation to say something sensible.
We have a name for these moments in our family. When I was running the Bar,we sold about 15 flavours of crisps and the conversation would go...
Customer...."What kind of crisps do you have" Staff......"Cheese'n'onion, steak, salt and vinegar...etc.etc" Customer..."what was the third one you said?" Staff..."Can't remember, we have ....(starts to reel off flavours again)
One day, it occurred to me that we could save time and aggravation by having laminated cards with all the flavours which the customer could peruse while their drinks were being poured. Obvious, I know, but the obvious does not always spring to mind.
Now, any kind of brainwave is referred to as a 'Crisp menu moment'.
I'd probably have 'what flavour do you want and I'll tell you if I've got them'
That too, but on Match days, particularly, it was imperative to get people served as quickly as possible, sometimes serving 2 or 3 at once if different beers were ordered, so anything that speeded up service was most welcome.
We were a small bar between both Universities, opposite the civic centre, across from the City Hall concert venue and just down the road from the Newcastle stadium so we were always very busy. The food was excellent so we had queues out of the door at lunchtime.

I'm hoping that we get the rain that they had at the end of the World Cup. That would save my getting the hose pipe out every other day (although it hasn't exploded yet 😉)
It was 38 degrees in my office when I got in this morning. Think that’s the hottest it’s been so far. Not that hot outside obvs but even with the aircon blasting all day it can’t get the overall temp down below 25. It feels cooler than that to me as I’m sat right by the aircon. Thank the bloody lord.
Day off tomorrow so I'm allowed beer but the fridge is empty. No worries, I'll nip to the offy. At that precise moment there's an almighty crack of thunder and the heavens open.
I get out eventually but it's still lobbing down an hour later. Bloody weather.
