One of my friends has done this dry January challenge and cannot believe that she has dropped a stone in weight without trying.
I'm making a real effort to cut back at the minute. I don't snack a great deal but I do find I'm more likely to snack when I'm in the office. Partly I think because I rarely get lunch before 2pm and if I don't have something around 11am I feel weird well before 2pm. So I'm making sure I have something mid morning that isn't too calorie laden. And this week I'm back to the exercise proper. So hopefully I shall get myself down a belt notch or two
I don't drink at all so the dry January challenge wouldn't have worked with me, but alcohol is a contributory factor to weight gain. I used to run a slimming and exercise class (those were the days ) and it was basically done on a points per day basis. You could eat whatever food you liked but couldn't exceed the eight points a day. I had piled the weight on while pregnant and so followed the diet, prior to my running it. I simply ate 'free foods' (i.e. one that had no points value) and I've never been so full up in my life! Chicken and green vegetables were all free foods, as was fish etc and I never felt hungry and lost 3 stone in 4 months (and kept it off ............ until the recent snacking started. )
A glass of wine, for example, was five points so with two glasses in a day the daily allowance went out of the window.
I'm following the free food list now, which is probably why I'm not hungry in between meals.
