Made my day to spot four red kites circling and diving up high, slowly moving south. I assumed they had migrated several weeks ago as I haven't seen any since the end of summer. Perhaps the first frost has sent them on their way, the bird bath was frozen over this morning.
In areas where snow cover will limit food availability the Kites will migrate. Generally in the low lying areas of Great Britain that is not the case. All over northern Europe Red Kite is a summer visitor
