We had fish pie, inc cod, smoked haddock, salmon, done in a parsley sauce rather than cheese, but a cheesy topping of course. Delicious as ever, but another case of making too much for two. And you can't re-heat the fish because it had been frozen, so the cat got an unexpected treat.
I made a large casserole with summer veg, chickpeas, wine and tomatoes etc, plus a batch of mince beef ricotta burgers today. They were intended for separate meals, but as I was too tired to do anything else, they were actually delicious together.
It used to be good but declined rapidly about 10 years ago. We stopped using the place after a particularly bad steak that we'd waited over an hour for, and it closed for a while. Now it's got new management and brewery in and it's superb. It was busy even at 6pm on a Monday, at weekends you have to book a table it's that popular. Nowt flash food wise, just very good pub grub.
