I have just bought tickets to go to The Creative Craft Show. www.sccshows.co.uk
It's not one of the massive ones that C&C talk about, but I'm looking forward to it. It's the first time that there has been one of these things near enough to us that I felt I could manage it.
OH is coming with me so I don't have to drive - he has an interest in some of it as he sells papercraft stuff and beads and things. I shall have to set myself a budget and then try and stick to it - no problem!
Good for you. I'd love to do more crafting but I genuinely don't have the time. I'm quite artistic and I've done a few different crafts over the years. Now I seem to just work and grow veg.
I've a good eye for design and colour if I say so myself. Hopefully in the future I might find the time to get back to it.
My crafting was the only thing that helped me keep my sanity for a while! I can't draw to save my life, but I do seem to be able to put papers and other bits and pieces together and come up with something that works!! I can't do as much as I used to because of my hands but I still enjoy it and I love looking at papers and things - I buy some papers never intending to use them but just to look at!
OH doesn't sell as much as he did as we have had to move out of our business unit and into our garage! Space is limited somewhat so a lot of the machines and things can't be used! His other work takes up a lot more of his time too. He made and sold card blanks, sold envelopes and cello bags, and printed his own backing papers. He had a lot of large, space images that he printed himself, he still sells a lot of Dufex stuff, including some of the large, framing-size images. He also sells beads and other embellishments.
I'm sure I will find plenty of things to look at in the show but he won't be bored either.
I went to the Rock and Gem Fayre at Kempton once, but I found all the supplies more expensive than I could get elsewhere.
I wondered about that Cog - I suspected it might often be the case! I will just have a look around and if I see something I fancy at what seems like a reasonable price then I can get it and just not check the prices when I get home! On the other hand, I could have a quick Google while I am there!! OH will be on the lookout too - it's my birthday a couple of weeks later so I suggested he might like to get me some craft stuff!
I had a look at the list of exhibitors - some I'd not heard of, some well known. One of them is a wool shop I have just found and bought from - I finished my snood the other day! I will certainly have a look at them. From up your way Yorko, I think - Warrington?
The name of one of the exhibitors nearly made me fall off my chair - she has 7 children and lives in a windmill.......... Does knowing 437 things to do with a scarflace and a pair of itsacrap trousers count as a craft then?

Please have a chat with her EB- I would love to know what she is like in person. Perhaps our cruisers could submit some orders for you to get for them? What have you got your eye on for your present?
As for the cruisers in our midst (makes them sound a bit dodgy!) I thought I could just pick up a few for them anyway. That should be fine - it's not like I have outlandish tastes or anything...........oh, wait?
I confess I do actually possess a couple of scarflaces! (What d'you mean you're not surprised?!!) I quite like 'em. I might have a quick peek at her stall. If I'm really lucky I can time it while she's having a tea break!
Sorry FP, I was so gobsmacked with the exciting prospect of talking to herself that I forgot to answer your other question! I don't know what I want for my birthday to be honest - I thought I would have a look round and see if anything grabs me! If I can't find anything there then there is always some bling!!
Well, that was an interesting experience! It was a bit more downmarket than I had expected but I quite enjoyed having a wander. As well as craft stalls, there were a few clothing ones (including Moira C). There were also things like barbecue cleaner and kitchen implements with the usual 'market stall' presentation. I didn't really expect to see that!
I bought a few bits and pieces though. Some of the stuff was more expensive than I know I can get it for online (as Cog found) but some was reduced. I got a 32 sheet pack of Papermania 12x12 papers for £3.99 instead of £6.99 - nice vintage style ones. I also got some unusual ribbons, sari strips and fabric squares for collage/quilting (haven't decided yet!) They had 3 for 2 deals on things like Tattered Lace, but it still makes them expensive in my mind! Lots of other things I could have bought but was restrained!
Most of what I got was the sort of stuff that you want but can't bring yourself to buy online because the delivery charges make it not cost effective - sticky tape, glue, peel offs etc. We used to have a shop in town but that has now gone so it is not so easy to get some of that. OH bought me some stamps, die cuts and matching papers from this range for my birthday. I haven't seen them before but apparently they are on C&C soon. I now have to forget about them and look surprised in three weeks!
(I might have bought some Moira C scarves - 2 for me and one for MIL - 3 for £20 which isn't bad. Sorry FP, the lady herself wasn't there!)

I like the look of your birthday present range- I'll have the Confused Cat. Remind me when they are due on C&C! Sounds like you had a good mooch around and enjoyed yourself. We do still actually have a Craft Shop next to our Aldi and they sell online too, but it isn't cheap. The Range isn't too far away and they have Papermania and there is a Hobbycraft too.The Staff in there are very helpful and I bought my first crafty stash from there.I don't own any dies , just use the cameo. Very disappointed you didn't meet up with Moira EB but glad to hear it was scarves and not the Itsacrap that you bought. Hope your MIL likes hers.
I had a look through next week's listings but couldn't see anything FP. It was an overheard conversation between the woman who draws all their stuff and a friend/colleague so it might be a bit later or I suppose they could be under another programme title. I might email them (House of Zandra) and ask!
We have a Hobbycraft in Chelmsford but that is about half an hour away. The closest we have to a craft shop now is 'The Works' which has its moments but is a bit hit and miss.
