It is blanket white here today and the white stuff is still falling. The bad news is that I have a dental appointment so I have to go out. Hmm. Bum, bum, bum.
I've cancelled ye olde dentist. Realised even if I could get out I probably couldn't get into their car park which is up quite a steep slope. Receptionist didn't seem to think many people would get in today.
A sprinkling of the white stuff here early this morning but pretty much all gone now
I want loads - a good few inches please! I don't have to drive so I'm not so worried about it - I appreciate it's a pain for those who have to be out and about - I mostly only go into the countryside with the dog and it's great fun when there is lots of snow! OH will never get the car out though - we have quite a slope around a tight corner just along the road and our car just takes one look and says 'no way'!
Well I've made it out! It was interesting getting out of my road and the office car park was seriously slippery but I'm in the office now and it is thawing fast. I shall be leaving at a reasonable hour though.
It started snowing here at about 8.30 pm yesterday and by 10pm we had about an inch of it. I tentatively made my way to the car this morning and drove carefully to work, just as more of the white stuff descended on us. The Head told me to park in the disabled bay if the weather was ever 'iffy' and so I did. (It's on the flat and fairly near to the main door.) A guy who was attempting to clear a path asked if I'd like to hang onto his arm for the 'trip' from car to school, but I declined (I'm not that old or infirmed ........ yet. ) I got in to school, chuffed that I'd made it in without incident, and then promptly slipped on the wet tiled floor. Luckily I didn't fall but 'ouch' .............. my knee didn't enjoy it.
The teachers I work with have told me not to go in tomorrow if we get more snow (it's forecasted) (I reckon think that they I could be a liability) and I'm soooooo tempted to take them up on their offer, but I doubt I will stay at home.
It was rather painful so I was hobbling more than usual, but I've rested it since getting back from work and it's settled down now. I recently started wearing a full support strapping with metal ribs down both sides of the knee and I'm sure that if I hadn't been wearing it it would have been a lot worse. I didn't actually fall, thank goodness, but my left leg slipped and I twisted round to stop a fall. The children probably thought I was auditioning for 'Dancing on Ice.'
