The PC guy rang this afternoon with bad news, my laptop has died the main board has failed and even if they could get one (it's three years old so he had doubts that he could find one) it would be £300-£400 to repair it! smash computer

People who are wrong are just as sure they're right as people who are right, the only difference is they're wrong
My thoughts exactly and its not as if its done hard time, its only me who uses it and I don't watch videos, download music or run a business on it, just accessing internet and of course chatting on here! I guess they probably don't make a lot of spares for each model because technology moves so fast everythings obsolete in a year, we live in a throwaway society. When I compare my first laptop to the one that's just expired there's no comparison, the original was heavy, much thicker, slower and with less screen definition and I daresay the new one other than having Windows 8 and no Microsoft Office will be even better smash computer once I get to grips with it !!

When I got the laptop I use now it used to revert to the way it had been set up by the manufacturer rather than my personalized version about every tenth time I logged on , as if it knew better than me what I wanted. Very annoying!
There is an add-on you can get for Windows 8 so that it means it looks pretty much like 7 or XP for day to day use. Its a free download or or if it isn't free its a couple of pounds. I couldn't get my 'ead round Windows 8 quick enough for work so my IT boys added this widget. My PA ... yes I do have one and blumming marvellous she is too and holds my work world together ... is super speedy on windows 8.
I'm sure I could have got used to it but being my work pooter I needed to get on with it from day one. I would think it was more intuitive if you have a touch screen. I don't.
