You are not alone- I wouldn't read it if all other books had disappeared from the Earth and will avoid the film and all it's spin offs. It just reflects how low we have sunk.
Haven't read the book it doesn't interest me at all and don't intend going Ginny see the film either. The DJ on the radio the other day was ruminating on the etiquette of seeing it, he was saying he's happy to go to the cinema by himself but it might look odd in view of it's content and taking your girlfriend could be awkward as she might think you wanted to recreate some of it, in the end he decided it was best viewed with a group of girls scared1

I've read the first book, (where's an embarrassed emoticon when you need one? ) but haven't read the other two. They're still in the cupboard. But I'm not going to bother with the film because the guy who's taking the lead doesn't fit my mental picture of what Christian looks like.
